The heating plant in Planá nad Lužnicí implemented several large development projects the value of which totaled at approx. CZK 1.4 billion between 2013-2015. As a result, the plant has become modern, very efficient and ecological.
Implemented projects
Thermal insulation of the LOKO building in C-Energy Planá s.r.o.
Walls and the roof of the former locomotive garage was heat cladded. Windows and doors in the building were replaced as well. Heat offtake in the building has been lower thanks to this project which has been co-financed by the European Union. C-Energy Planá also contracted renovation of interiors of the building which the company fully covered from its own funds. The LOKO building is now used as the main gatehouse of the company premises, and there are also workshops and spare parts warehouse.
The project of thermal insulation of the LOKO building in C-Energy Planá s.r.o. was co-funded by the European Union within the operating programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness.
Renovation and ecologization of the heating plant in Planá nad Lužnicí
The aim of the project was to replace the original equipment with a more efficient, ecological and economical production unit. Between August 2013- October 2015 the following was constructed in the plant: four gas motor-generators (4 x 9 MWe), 4 flue gas boilers, utilizing flue gas heat from motor-generators (4 x 4 tons of steam/hour), two coal boilers with fluid technology features (output of each: 40 tons of steam/hour) and a desulphurization unit. For detailed description of the new equipment go to New technology (odkaz). The renovated heating plant in Planá nad Lužnicí is now able to provide its customers with long-term heat supplies at clearly defined prices and with much less air pollution. The renovation was carried out under full operation without restricting supplies to customers. This project resulted in reduced coal consumption from original 130 thousand tons to approximately 80 thousand tons a year. Beside brown coal, the plant also uses gas which is brought to the plant through a new gas pipeline connected to a transit gas pipeline operated by the Net4Gas company.
Renovation of turbine generator
The original turbine-generator whose output was 46.5 MWe was renovated to match the parameters of steam from new boilers and to increase its efficiency. The output of the renovated turbine generator is 20 MWe.
Renovation of heat distribution system
During summer months of 2014 and 2015 the old steam and condensate distribution pipes were replaced with pipelines whose dimensions better correspond with the current needs of our customers; in addition to that the new pipelines feature better insulation qualities. Another step to increase savings and reduce losses was the substitution of low-pressure steam (0,2 MPa) with hot water supplies.
Reduction of dust nuisance of coal operation in Planá nad Lužnicí
This project included measures which prevent the formation of dust in the area of coal pile, conveyor belts and coal loading equipment. C-Energy purchased for example a telescopic sleeve for coal unloading and a dust suppression cannon to be operated on the coal pile.
Renovation of water pipelines and upgrade of electric output evacuation to the E.ON network
Water distribution pipelines in the industrial premises of Silon were completely renovated in 2013 – this resulted in much lower losses in the whole system. In the same year the 40-year-old 110 kV cables connecting the heating plant with the 110 kV switch station of the E.ON distribution company were replaced. C-Energy also installed another transformer to ensure that there are two independent ways to evacuate the electric output from the plant.
Projects Ecologization and renovation of the heating plant in Planá nad Lužnicí, Renovation of heat distribution system of the heating plant in Planá nad Lužnicí and Reduction of dust nuisance of the coal operation in Planá nad Lužnicí were co-funded from subsidies granted by the European Union – The Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Environment.
